Your home might already be on Home.co.uk: here's how to take control of it

Most people assume a property only appears on a portal when it's been actively listed for sale. That's not how Home works. Every UK property is in our database, whether or not it's on the market. Right now we're tracking 1,249,531 live listings across sale and rental, plus the much larger set of properties that aren't currently for sale but still have a record. Your home is likely already discoverable on home.co.uk.

That's not a problem, but it's a good idea to understand what's showing and how to manage it if you're planning to sell.

Why every property is listed

Home's approach is to make the full picture of UK housing discoverable, not just the properties agents have chosen to market through us. This serves buyers who want to understand a street or neighbourhood beyond what happens to be for sale at any given moment.

For most properties, an unclaimed listing shows basic information: the address, the property type, and any sold-price history from Land Registry records. It doesn't include current photos, a description, or a live asking price. It's a data record rather than a live listing. A claimed listing looks more like this 3-bed house in Fringford, Oxfordshire, with photos, a description and a live asking price, or this 1-bed flat on Henry Street, Manchester.

What "claiming" your listing means

If you're selling your home through an estate agent, that agent can claim and manage your listing on Home. Once claimed, the full listing goes live: photos, floor plan, description, asking price, and the agent's contact details. This is what drives buyer enquiries.

What you can do as a homeowner

If you're not currently selling, your Home record is a free resource. Check our house prices section to see recent comparable sales in your area and understand your property's market position.

If you are selling and want to make sure your listing is appearing at its best, the most direct step is to check with your agent that they've claimed and fully populated the listing. A claimed listing with good photos, an accurate description and a correctly stated price will reach buyers more effectively than a sparse record. If you're planning to sell privately (without an agent), the process is different. Private sellers can list directly on Home.co.uk by creating a seller account, giving you full control of your photos, description and asking price.

A word on sold prices

The historic sold-price data that appears on unclaimed listings comes from Land Registry records and reflects the price registered at completion of previous sales. It doesn't update in real time and may lag completions by several weeks. It also reflects what the property sold for in the past, not its current market value. For a sense of what your home is worth now, our house prices section shows recent comparable sales in your street and postcode, a useful starting point before any agent valuations.

The bigger picture

Making every UK property discoverable is part of how Home gives buyers a more complete view of the market. If you're a buyer exploring an area, you can look up any address and see its history, even if it's not currently for sale. If you're a seller, it means your property has a presence on Home from the moment you instruct an agent, without any extra step required.

The listing is already there. The question is how much information it carries.
