Accommodation
Well Cottage is an ideal example of a turn-key cottage in a beautiful Somerset village location, close to fantastic market towns, lovely dog walks and great communication links too. The current owners have taken great care in improving the accommodation while retaining the character to give a perfect blend of rustic charm and practical modernity.
The front door opens into the dining hall, where large flagstones continue through the two reception areas at the front of the cottage. This characterful space has fitted alcove shelving and an attractive Blue Lias stone fireplace.
Alongside is the cosy sitting room, centred around a wood-burning stove set within a Blue Lias stone surround with a brick hearth. Further alcove shelving provides useful storage and display space.
At the rear of the cottage is a beautifully updated kitchen, combining stylish cabinetry with period features including exposed ceiling beams, timber panelling, industrial-style lighting and rustic pan racks. The kitchen is equipped with an electric double oven and grill, an induction hob with an extractor above, an integrated dishwasher and fridge freezer, and a large ceramic Belfast sink with a mixer tap.
At the far end of the kitchen is a cloakroom featuring exposed stonework, a WC and a cabinet-mounted wash basin.
A rustic staircase with storage cupboards beneath, rises to the first floor, where a generous landing has exposed floorboards and a vaulted ceiling. This provides an excellent additional space for reading or quiet relaxation.
There are two spacious double bedrooms, both with oak flooring and pretty south-easterly views across the garden towards the fields beyond.
The bedrooms are served by a stylish family shower room, fitted with a large walk-in shower featuring a rainfall showerhead, Crittall-style screens and tiled storage niches. Further features include exposed stonework, a heated towel rail, a generous wash basin and WC. A cleverly positioned utility cupboard provides plumbing and space for laundry appliances.
Outside
The gardens are a particular feature of the property, enjoying a south-easterly aspect and a good degree of privacy. A level lawn is complemented by well-positioned seating areas, established flower borders and a useful garden shed. There is a charming blue Lias well in the garden too, giving the property it’s name.
The garden is enclosed by a combination of fencing and mature laurel hedging, creating a peaceful and secluded setting. Off-road parking is available for two vehicles
