Description
Description
A detached, family home of abundant character in the heart of the popular village of Blagdon.
Chayfern was built in 1929 and retains many period features. The house is set back from the road and accessed via a short flight of steps to the front garden which wraps around the house. The front door leads into an entrance hall with ample space for coats and boots. Immediately on the left is a charming living room with a log burner with slate hearth and bay window with a south facing orientation. A convenient cloak room with toilet and sink is accessed from the hallway.
The farmhouse style kitchen is at the end of the hall and is of a great size with an exposed brick fireplace, ample wall and base units with timber worktops, and space for a fridge freezer, dishwasher and a range cooker. There is ample space for dining circa 8 people and double doors lead out onto the west facing veranda and garden. Off the kitchen is a sizeable garden/utility room which houses the white goods and provides a very useful space for storage, a study or an additional bedroom.
On the first floor are three bedrooms and a modern family bathroom with a deep bathtub and separate, walk-in rain shower and heated towel rail and heated floor. The principal bedroom is spacious and lovely with a bay window and south facing orientation. Bedroom two is a decent double with a duel aspect overlooking the garden and Blagdon lake. Bedroom three is a smaller, children's room. The top floor has been converted to create an attic room in the eaves of the house.
Externally, a timber porch runs along the rear of the property providing a great spot to sit out and dine al fresco. The rear, lawned gardens are west facing and extensive. There is a useful, timber framed outbuilding with power which is used as an office. At the end of the garden is a mature maple tree, garden shed and veg patch.
