This ensured that local produce, particularly livestock and agricultural goods, could be transported more quickly and efficiently.

Today, while modern commerce has changed, Dingwall still retains its historic character as a Highland market town. Its weekly livestock sales continue, making it one of the last places in the Highlands where this centuries-old tradition is maintained.
